Clixtr: Location Based Photo Sharing App For iPhone
Posted on 30. Oct, 2009 by Zahid Lilani in Smartphone
Imagine you are at an event and everyone is taking photos using an iPhone and maybe you are too. What if you are not taking photos? What if you think others are taking better photos? Wouldn’t you be interested in looking at all the photos taken at the event?
Answer to that is Clixtr, location based photo sharing iPhone app that allows the world to tap into your camera roll. Clixtr was launched at TechCrunch50 in September. According to the press release issued by Clixtr:
Clixtr allows users to create events, upload mobile photos, and for the first time ever, create real-time event photo streams with the users around them.
Clixtr allows you to look at events happening near by, view the photos taken at the event, follow the event photo stream and create your own events on the go. It works around the idea of everyone at the event having an iPhone.
Clixtr is currently in beta, that doesn’t mean you can’t experience it. On the homepage you can signup to create an event, look at pictures posted by others at various events and download its iPhone app for 99 cents FREE. Don’t feel bad if you don’t have an iPhone, you can upload photos from your computer too.
Clixtr currently has a contest going on for Halloween and you can win $25

After I started following @Clixtr on Twitter, I asked why wasn’t the app free and @fodmc who works at Clixtr was generous and extended me a coupon code that I used to download my Clixtr app (thus saving me 99 cents when the app wasn’t free)
